I am always on the hunt for cool events in Düsseldorf centered around the topic of sustainability and recently had the opportunity to attend one at the Hochschule Düsseldorf. When I first learned of “Grünes Licht – Weg frei für Nachhaltigkeit” I was interested immediately, primarily because it’s objective is something that I see the need for: finding creative ways to introduce sustainability to people, giving them an opportunity to inform themselves about a topic that grows in importance every day.
The mini fair was organized by students from Hochschule Düsseldorf, all from different fields of study:
Lucas Link – Business Administration
Laura Mac Carty – Social Work / Social Education
Tobias Parnitzke – Social Work / Social Education
Patrick Sacher – Process, Energy & Environmental Technology
Stella Lippegaus – Multimedia Communication & Marketing Management
Visitors had the opportunity to explore the topic of sustainability through workshops, seminars, or simply by browsing through the many booths of local initiatives and shops including a few that I was excited to see: Roberta the Store, foodsharing & bayti hier.
There is really a need for more initiatives such as this one in Düsseldorf. We cannot force people to be interested in the idea of sustainable living but we can provide an opportunity for curious minds to be informed.
So, the big question is: will there be another? Well, as of yet there is no confirmed date but you better believe as soon as there is, it will be in my calendar!
